Your engineers correct the same terms on every project, and they are tired of it. The fix lives in a marked-up PDF, the next translator never sees it, and the next job starts from zero. A term your engineers approved once should never need correcting again. Terms are about 4 to 6% of the words in a document (Guy Champagne, The Economic Value of Terminology), yet wrong terms caused 47% of the translation errors in General Motors’ study of its own translations (SAE J1930, Woyde 2005).

If your bilingual engineers translate in-house today, the term base works for them too, inside NEOLO. Your past translations already hold your terminology; it is just scattered across years of documents. NEOLO extracts the terms from your English and French documents, our terminologists check them, and your engineers approve the pairs that matter. NEOLO’s term extraction scores 67.3 F1 on ACTER, the standard benchmark; the best published result is 61.2.

Built once.Every specification, report and AutoCAD drawing we translate uses it, so a callout on the sheet matches its section word for word, either way you work.
Applied everywhere.New terms are settled before each project starts and added for the next one.
Kept current.Your engineers review the translation in minutes, not hours, and the terms are already right.
The term base belongs to your firm, whether you stay with us or not. A new office or a new project starts with your approved terms on day one. Export it, share it with your other suppliers, or use it inside your own memoQ server.
Upload a recent translated deliverable or drawing for a free, confidential terminology check: we return a short report of every inconsistent term in it. It shows you what a term base would fix, on your own documents. Ready to start? Request a quote, answered within one business day.

Slab edge, in one approved pair, is rive de la dalle. Other French renderings are understandable; only one is the term your engineers approved. Terminology is the set of those approved pairs, one concept, one term in each language.
A translation memory stores whole sentences already translated. A term base stores concepts and the one approved term for each, with its context and notes. The memory helps when a sentence repeats; the term base keeps a term right in a sentence nobody has written before.
It writes fluent French, but it has no way to know which of several correct terms your firm approved, so it can choose a different one in each document. A general AI translation needs a term base behind it, and someone who checks the terms.
Our [construction glossary](/guides/construction-glossary/) lists approved EN/FR construction terms with their context, and the [NMS divisions guide](/guides/nms-divisions-en-fr/) gives every division and section title in both languages.
