Civil engineering translation, in your terms.

Sewer, water and road packages where the plan, the profile and the specification call every structure by the same name.

01

Where civil packages drift

A municipal package names the same structure on the plan, the profile, the specification and the geotechnical report, often written by different people. In translation it becomes a regard de visite on the plan and a trou d’homme in the specification, and the contractor’s question lands on your desk during bidding. Your engineers end up checking vocabulary on drawings they already checked for design.

02

One term base, every document

Every structure on this page has one name in Technitrad’s NMS term base, and your firm’s approved terms take precedence over it. The plan, the profile, the specification and the report are translated from that one list. Technitrad’s NMS term base holds over 15,000 terms; the term base built from your documents is yours, whether you stay with us or not. A term your engineers approved once should never need correcting again.

03

What we translate

Plan and profile drawings, standard details, municipal and NMS specifications, geotechnical and drainage reports, tender documents and addenda, and the as-built records that follow.

04

NMS sections it touches

  • Maintenance holes and catch basin structures
  • Public sanitary sewerage gravity piping
  • Sanitary sewerage force main piping
  • Pipe culverts
  • Curbs, gutters and sidewalks
  • Excavating, trenching and backfilling

Standard NMS text in these sections is matched against our NMS translation memory, aligned from the official English and French NMS, which lowers the cost and shortens the turnaround. Your edits are translated in the same terms. See every division and section title in both languages.

Receive the package in your formats, ready to issue

On either route, AutoCAD DWG drawings come back with the translation written in place, so no one retypes a callout.

Proof

Six of the world’s ten largest engineering firms are Technitrad clients. See how we translate NMS specifications and AutoCAD drawings.

We’ve completed our review of the translated documents and are pleased to say we have no comments, everything looks good on our end.

Start

The tender goes out with the plan, the profile and the specification calling every maintenance hole by one name, and no question about it during bidding. Your engineers stop correcting the same terms twice, and stop being the firm’s French proofreaders. If your own engineers translate the drawings today because an agency would send back tables to retype, start with the AI draft: your team reviews it in NEOLO, and the DWG comes back with the translation written in place. Send the package for a quote, answered within one business day, or start with a free, confidential terminology check of a recent deliverable or drawing.

FAQ

Questions

How do you say engineering in French?

Engineering is ingénierie, and civil engineering is génie civil. A civil engineer is an ingénieur civil, and in Quebec the profession is regulated by the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.

What do you call a manhole in French?

The NMS calls it a maintenance hole in English and a regard de visite in French; older documents still say trou d'homme. Your term base settles which one your firm uses, on the drawings and in the specification.

Do you translate municipal specifications as well as the NMS?

Yes. Municipal and owner specifications are translated with the same term base as the drawings, and standard NMS text comes back in the official NMS French.
